- Abstract (up to 300 words to describe your proposal)
- Small mobile devices are known as devices that make it easy to read emails and websites, to take and upload photos, and to tap simple buttons, but make it hard to write long texts. However, people do write quite a lot on their mobile devices in various messenger apps, such as SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, WeChat, Line, etc. What if you could edit Wikimedia projects directly from these apps? Editing a whole article like this would be weird, but there are scenarios in which editing through a messenger app may make sense: translating short strings; fixing typos; checking facts; adding translations to Wiktionary; and more. I started implementing these ideas at the Hackathon in Jerusalem in 2016. This talk will present the work done in this area till now, and future prospects.
