If you need a visa[edit | edit source]
If you need a visa, you will have to apply for a business visitor visa, even if you also intend to visit Canada as a tourist. The visa processing times vary from region to region and it is recommended you apply for your visa well in advance. The processing times are available on the CIC website here. Please note, if you are transiting in certain countries such as the United States and Schengen countries en route to Montréal, you may also be required to apply for a transit visa.
Note that your visa application's chance of success could be helped by providing documentation such as:
- Travel bookings, return flight
- Itinerary of visit
- Confirmation of conference booking
- Evidence you can support yourself financially while in Canada
- Evidence of current employment or enrollment in education in home country
In addition, you may need an invitation letter as part of the process; the Wikimania 2017 organizing team will provide one for all scholarship recipients as well as for any registered attendee that requests one. More details about this will be forthcoming.
