- Abstract (up to 300 words to describe your proposal)
In the past decade according to Statistics Wikimedia usage and contribution in countries that have least participants has increased less as compared to countries that already have more users, for example my home language Wiki https://stats.wikimedia.org/EN/TablesWikipediaSN.htm has active users that are less than 5% of the total our population.
I have noticed similar stats with many other least represented countries on Wikimedia and in my 30 minute presentation i will share ideas on how to increase reach, and get more participants on Wikimedia projects.
Some of my Engagement ideas will centered around these guides and more
Community Conversations - From Professionals ,Politicians, Educators,Students, Business people to every single person in the community everyone have their own understanding about Wikimedia, on this subject i will share how we can use community conversations as a tool that will create a shared vision ,perspective and understanding of What Wikimedia is,Its goals where its coming from and where its going.
shared resources - Establishing shared resources in local libraries and community centers will greatly increase the number Wikimedia participants in less privileged communities, there are millions of people who do not have access to the Internet and do not even own a device capable of accessing the Internet especially in rural Africa. The shared resources can be as simple as two or three desktop computers with Internet that are maintained but volunteers.
Surveys/questionnaires - On this subject i will share how we can conduct surveys that will help us improve the way we interact with community members during our outreaches, i will share some of the best questions that will help improve outreaches.
focus groups - During outreaches i will share how we can develop focus groups ,these groups will include editors and general users , and volunteers , i will share the functions focus groups can do as part of our outreach efforts and how they will help Wikimedia reach more people.
consultative workshops -i will also share how consultative workshops will help especially during the times we will be launching outreaches .
