Talk:Submissions/Wiki Loves Africa

From Wikimania

Will this be a display or will the discussion be about the origins of the Wiki Loves Africa? Geraldshields11 (talk) 15:40, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A display of the pictures. Plus a few goodies (stickers etc.). Not a talk. Anthere (talk)
  • Primary target group: All, particularly editors associated with the presence of Wikipedia in Afrca and editors/authors of articles on Africa related topics.
  • Critical issue: No
  • Cross-Wiki significance: Yes
  • Abstract: Fairly clear .
  • Concept: 'How we did/do it' showcase.
  • Other / concerns: Possibly a better candidate for a village booth in the conference lobby/open space. One of several proposed presentations on Africa related topics. Suggest contacting other candidates for Africa related presentations to merge efforts in this direction.

  • Concept: This is not a "how we did it/do it" (which would rather be ONE poster and would completely fit in the village booth). What we propose is a display of winning pictures (that would be between 5 to 15 pictures). By experience, it does not fit into the village booth because there is not enough space on the wall available to hang pictures in community village space. Every year, we come with posters and end up disseminating them here and there... one picture at the Tunisian stand, one picture at the Algerian stand, one picture at the South African stand etc. This way... we show the pictures but there is ZERO visibility provided to the Wiki Loves Africa photo contest. We can do that again (and when we do... we do not need to post a submission)... but this is not super satisfactory.
  • We are rather looking for a DEDICATED space where we could hang several posters together so as to bring light to this very English/French specific project. I have seen similar exhibitions of WLM in the past and the displays were pooled together. The reason why we posted a submission is to see if we could get a dedicated space where we could put the pictures on the wall. If needed, we can instead get a village booth and we will manage to put as many pictures there as possible. But in this case, just know that no one will be sitting at the table of the booth. So the whole question is... is there a wall for us somewhere to use ? If not... we'll get a booth.... Anthere (talk)
