- An exhibition that celebrates the winners over the three years of Wiki Loves Africa. m:Wiki Loves Africa (WLAf) is an annual contest where people across Africa can contribute media (photographs, video and audio) about their environment on Wikimedia Commons for use on Wikipedia and other project websites of the Wikimedia Foundation. In 2014 the theme was Cuisine, the theme in 2015 was Cultural Fashion and Adornment, and the theme for 2016 was Music and Dance.
- The exhibition will feature the four winners from each of the years (12 overall), the posters from each year, a poster of statistics and information from the three years, and generic leaflets and stickers. It is hoped that the African meet-up can take place in the same space.
- What will attendees take away from this session?
- They will be able to visually see the scope of the project and the diversity of cultural practices across the continent. They will be able to enjoy wonderful pictures that celebrate a continent, and that visually add to understanding different cultural elements on Wikipedia. They will also be able to view the immense amount of work that has been done by the focus groups across Africa over the years for the competition.
