I don't have a passport. Can I apply for the scholarship?--Iqsrb722 (talk) 06:23, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Iqsrb722: If you are a legal resident of Canada, then you need no passport to attend the conference and are welcome to apply for a scholarship. If not, then you will need to be able to get the required travel documents (including a passport), but the scholarship does not cover any attendent cost.  – Coren(talk) 01:28, 24 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Wikimania Esino Lario 2016?

On https://scholarships.wikimedia.org/apply is an application for Wikimania 2016, not 2017... --Lingveno (talk) 23:49, 7 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Looks like it's not updated for some languages (specifically en-gb). Looking into fixing this. Ajraddatz (talk) 01:56, 10 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I corrected it on translatewiki. Best, DerHexer (talk) 13:59, 10 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Wiki-text in application?

The application form uses plain-text boxes but some questions require us to provide links. Are we allowed to use wikitext? Deryck Chan (talk) 12:52, 17 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Deryck Chan: Wikitext links will not be turned into clickable links for the jury. In order to make their lifes easier, direct external links are preferred. Best, DerHexer (talk) 15:19, 18 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Q

Hello, I think there's a mistake in this page that you wrote (over the time period September 2015 to September 2016)? I think it's the same like (Scholarships#Wikimania 2016). Thanksعلاء (talk) 11:46, 1 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Not receiving any e-mail

Hello, I have not received any e-mail yet (except the one confirming application). I thought there was a delay with the reviews, but now I see both Phase I and II are marked as finished. Is there something wrong with the mailing system? Mapep (talk) 17:51, 9 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

I have exact same phemonemon :( Galadrien (talk) 07:39, 11 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Mail not received in Phase-2

It is marked as done today for notification of phase -2 application process. But I haven't received any mail yet. Also checked spam. Kindly let me know the status. -- Sulthan90 (talk) 06:58, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Same here, I also sent an email to the committee. I appreciate your volunteer efforts. Thanks! Missvain (talk) 14:55, 14 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Final list

The list was promised to be published on 1 May, we're now 7 days later. When will it be published? Would be also great for local chapters to make decisions. Sjoerddebruin (talk) 14:32, 7 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Yes... although I have not applied, I am very curious. It's nine days late now, I think at least an explanation is due--Saintfevrier (talk) 19:44, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
Good question. I was put on a waiting list, so it would be great to have an official answer, as I need to make a plan for summer at work. --Ehrlich91 (talk) 20:13, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
I need to report to my usergroup if anyone from Thailand receive a scholarship and I am looking forward to seeing the list too. Having seen the process in the previous years, it is not surprise to see the delay here. @Saintfevrier:, would large volume of qualified applicants and work are done by volunteers be sufficient explanation for you? --Taweetham (talk) 07:44, 13 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Taweetham:no to be honest, it wouldn't... volunteers do transparent work. The fact that no-one from the WMF finds it important to write two lines in the order of "the delay is owed to the fact that there is a large volume of qualified applicants and the work is done by volunteers" pays testimony to the fact that the procedure is lacking in transparency. But I'll say no more and just wait for the list. Then I will speak. Thanks anyway for taking the time to offer an explanation, albeit insufficient. Cheers. --Saintfevrier (talk) 18:32, 14 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

The work of the volunteers ended in time in the first week of April. Afterwards, the WMF had to contact all awardees, seek confirmation from them, had to arrange travels and Visa, etc. People on the waitlist had to also be contacted in a short timeframe when someone rejected the scholarshop. That was the reason why it was published later. Best, DerHexer (talk) 15:56, 19 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

You probably mean the reason is that all of this took longer than expected. --Vogone (talk) 18:51, 19 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
I don't see any list though. Sjoerddebruin (talk) 22:36, 21 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
The list is on Meta: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:TPS/Wikimania_scholars#2017_WMF_Wikimania_Scholarships --Mel 23 (talk) 22:55, 21 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Chapter scholarship

Are there any other chapters offering scholarships? I could supposedly presenting lectures among with others and did not obtain full scholarship . As I am the only breadwinner and have three children I cannot possibly undertake the trip without financial support. --Nattes à chat (talk) 12:33, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
