ورڪشاپ جو تفصيل

BAnQ has gathered five archives fonds from three centers that will be available for digitization and uploading in Commons and Wikisource. One of these precious funds includes nearly nine hundred negatives illustrating the living of First Nations of the Abitibi and the Mauricie region between 1936 and 1952. This particular fonds is in danger as the negatives are getting oxidized and it is urgent to digitize them for its preservation. BAnQ has also gathered thousands of handwritten pages of documents already digitized and ready to be uploaded in Wikimedia Commons and transcribed in Wikisource. Some of these manuscripts are more than two centuries old.

During the scan-a-thon, participants can help in many ways:

  • scan the negatives and handwritten documents;
  • to crop scanned images and do quality control;
  • upload negatives and handwritten documents on Commons;
  • insert images into Wikipedia articles;
  • transcribe manuscripts in Wikisource.
