English:
On this poster I show you the work that I have done in a course with mental health patients at a hospital in Buenos Aires. The main objective of this project is to encourage vulnerable people to create and increase the number of articles in Wikiquote in Spanish, allowing them to improve the quality of the content with famous phrases. This is an specific intervention to re-integrate persons with serious mental illness into the community, improving their self-esteem, proposing them a goal and reducing their perception of loneliness and social isolation. I do that teaching them how to edit Wikiquote, to make them feel members of the wiki community. Those patients who have been hospitalized or who are undergoing some kind of outpatient treatment have here a friendly space for editing with social and emotional support. During the course the patients develop a wide range of skills and abilities that help them gain confidence by feeling that they make a meaningful contribution to our society. This also promote gains in areas such as self-esteem or comunication skills One patient said, "I always thought I was writing on the air in Facebook because nobody read my posts, but now all the sentences that I have collected will serve for something and someone." Other important outcome was the awareness, visibility and understanding of Wikimedia projects among professionals working at the hospital who had not previously heard a word about the Wikimedia Foundation.

Dans cette affiche, je vous montre le travail que j'ai accompli dans un cours avec des patients atteints de santé mentale dans un hôpital psychiatrique au Buenos Aires. L'objectif principal de ce projet est d'encourager les patients à créer et à augmenter le nombre d'articles en Wikiquote en espagnol, ce qui leur permet d'améliorer la qualité du contenu des phrases célèbres. Il s'agit d'une intervention spécifique pour réintégrer les personnes atteintes d'une maladie mentale grave dans la communauté, améliorant leur estime de soi, leur proposant un objectif et réduisant leur perception de la solitude et de l'isolement social. Je le fais en leur apprenant à éditer Wikiquote pour les faire sentir membres de la communauté wiki. Les patients qui ont été hospitalisés ou qui effectuent un traitement ambulatoire ont ici un espace amical pour l'édition de Wikiquote, avec un soutien social et émotionnel. Au cours du cours, les patients développent un large éventail de compétences qui les aident à gagner leur confiance en sentant qu'ils apportent une contribution significative à notre société. Cela favorise également des gains dans des domaines tels que l'estime de soi ou les compétences de communication. Une patiente a déclaré: «J'ai toujours pensé que j'écrivais sur l'air dans Facebook parce que personne ne me lisait pas, mais maintenant, toutes les phrases que j'ai recueillies serviront pour quelque chose et quelqu'un». D'autres résultats importants ont été la sensibilisation, la visibilité et la compréhension des projets de Wikimedia parmi les professionnels travaillant à l'hôpital qui n'avaient pas entendu parler de Wikimedia Foundation.

En este poster presento el trabajo realizado en un curso de enseñanza de edición con pacientes de salud mental en un hospital psiquiátrico en Buenos Aires. El objetivo principal de este proyecto es animar a los pacientes a crear y aumentar el número de artículos de Wikiquote en español, permitiéndoles mejorar la calidad del contenido de frases célebres. Se trata de una intervención específica para reintegrar, en la comunidad, a personas con enfermedades mentales graves, mejorando su autoestima, proponiéndoles un objetivo, reduciendo su percepción de soledad y aislamiento social al aprender a editar en Wikiquote y hacerlos sentir miembros de nuestra comunidad wiki. Aquellos pacientes que hayan estado internados en un hospital o que estén realizando algún tipo de tratamiento ambulatorio cuentan aquí con un espacio de contención emocional y ayuda para novatos. Durante este curso los pacientes desarrollan una amplia gama de habilidades que les ayudan a generar autoconfianza al sentir que hacen una contribución significativa a nuestra sociedad. Esto también promueve beneficios en áreas tales como la autoestima y las habilidades en la comunicación. Una paciente me confesó: "Siempre pensé que en Facebook estaba escribiendo en el aire porque nadie me lee pero ahora todas las frases que recolecté van a servir para algo". Otro resultado importante de esta experiencia fue la concientización y visibilización de los proyectos de Wikimedia entre los profesionales que trabajan en el hospital, quienes nunca habían escuchado hablar ni sobre la Fundación Wikimedia ni sobre sus proyectos.
- What will attendees take away from this session?
Attendees will learn about a project that supports diversity and tries to empower vulnerable population by helping them to collect and develop educational content in Wikiquote and make them feel as part of a bigger community. Any user of any project of the foundation interested in social services to the community or courses of edition teaching may be interested.
