Abstract (up to 300 words to describe your proposal)

Education programs are increasingly present within the Wikimedia movement. Through them, we not only drive the reach of the goals of the movement but we are promoting a new generation of editors for the WIkimedia projects.
But how can we begin an education program in our local context? What do we have to take in mind so that it can be carried out successfully?
Through this workshop we want to discuss what steps should be followed by those chapters, user groups and volunteers who want to start an education program from scratch.
We will analyze:

  1. How to organize a reliable and sustainable long-term education program.
  1. How to define the main goals
  2. Counterparts analysis
  3. Who we want to reach
  1. What is needed to set up an Education Program
  1. The importance of the local and international context regarding Education Policies: opportunities and challenges.
  2. Define an identity that makes the program different from any other educational proposal.
  3. Define what to offer according to your context: goals, projects and activities
  4. Strategically define what your potential counterparts might be to help you scale and give visibility to your program.
  5. Share results locally and internationally, as well as within the movement: generate learning
