Abstract (up to 300 words to describe your proposal)

In 2016 Wikimedia Germany released the beta version of the Attribution Generator - a tool to automatically detect all necessary license information for reusing Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia pictures. With only a few clicks, it helps legal laypeople to follow the obligations of Creative Commons licenses by generating the appropriate license attribution for the pictures they want to reuse for whatever purpose. This poster shows how the tool works, where interested community members can participate in its development and how to translate it. In addtion, I will be around to answer attendees' questions about the tool and would like to discuss possible new features.

What will attendees take away from this poster?

Attendees will learn what the Attribution Generator is, how they can use it to generate reliable license notices for reusing pictures from Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia, and how the tool operates. Attendees can also learn how to translate the tool into their own language or how they can contribute to the development of the Attribution Generator.
